Shalon has resided in several southeastern cities but calls Etowah County home! She is the Auction Operations Manager for J. P. King Auction Co. and co-owns a boutique event planning business, Whirl Events & Creative.

She began her time with Success By 6 as a Public Relations intern from Jacksonville State University in 2009.  As an intern she was able to customize her program to include a large focus on Girlfriend Gala. It was during that time she began to harvest her passions for event planning and logistics.  Following graduation from JSU, she became a member of the steering committee for Girlfriend Gala and has served in multiple capacities throughout her time volunteering with “The Gala”. This year she is Publicity Chair and prior to that, she was Publicity Co-Chair. She also served as Decorations Co-chair for two years. This will be her eleventh year as a table decorator. Her most valuable piece of advice for a first-time decorator is, “You can live without fingerprints.”

When she is not working on Girlfriend Gala you can find Shalon recruiting & wrangling volunteers for CommUnity Thanksgiving as the Volunteer/Marketing Coordinator and working with the Gadsden Public Library on “Once Upon A Prom.” She also volunteers on the state level with the YMCA’s Collegiate Legislature Program.

During her downtime, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Christopher, and their three fur-babies, Charlie, Silvie & Scout.
